The Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice is located at 906 Carroll St., Durham, NC 27701.

We are pleased to offer many opportunities for visitors to engage with this incredible space each week, including public tours, events, and community gathers. While we are open many Wednesdays and Saturdays, please see our calendar to ensure we are open on the day you wish to visit.

After President Roosevelt's visit to UNC Chapel Hill in 1938 where he hailed the university as a place of 'American liberal thought', the Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray pens a letter of disdain to the President, forwarding a copy to First Lady Eleanor Rooseve On February 13, 1977, Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray made history by celebrating her first Eucharist at Chapel of the Cross in Chapel Hill, NC. Rev. Murray became the first Black woman to be ordained to the Episcopal priesthood and the first woman to celebrat There's still time to visit us this Black History Month!
